GMGI-OFW Kuwait Chapter celebrates 4th founding anniversary by helping cancer patients

Two brothers shake hands as a sign of their brotherhood and the two lovely and friendly sisters from "OFW Sharing Love Foundation".
The Guardian Magic Group International (GMGI)-OFW Kuwait Chapter was commemorating their 4th Founding Anniversary with the "Tugtugan Alay Para Kay Kabayan" a musicale night, which was held on 4th December 2015 at the E'lysses Hotel, Salmiya, State of Kuwait.

This memorable event was graced by GMGI members, guests and sponsors; Filinvest, AIM Global, AJWAA Travels, IFFCO and OFW Sharing Love Foundation and other groups.

The event was opened by a solemn prayer led by Pastor Rico Francisco and followed by the singing of Kuwait and Philippine national anthem.

When I entered the venue, I was surprise to see Mrs. Amelita Oclarit Addun's photograph on the projector screen. I'm not expecting her being part of the program. I have known her having an ovarian cancer. Tabang Pinoy recommended Mrs. Addun to GMGI to be its beneficiary through Ms. Leah Francisco -- GMGI finance officer.

A year after investing in the Philippine Stock Market

DonJuan(Center)buying his first stocks with his friend Mr. Raffy Seril(Left) guided by his mentor Mr. Renz Leano(Right)
I started investing in the Philippine Stock Market last 21st November 2014 at 5:51 p.m. Kuwait Time, with the unselfish guidance of our mentor Mr. Renz Leano, the founder of OFSI-Kuwait. I am now able to apply and execute the knowledge I gained from attending the several weeks of the free sessions on Financial Literacy Seminar conducted by the Overseas Filipino Stock Investor (OFSI).

A month before the anniversary of my stock investing, I was able to make review and analyze the history/ performance of my investments, from the initial deposit, the buying and selling of shares of stocks and the total dividends I earned from the two blue chip companies.

Eljohn’s first educational tour at Greenbelt 1 Makati and City of Dreams Manila

MSMSI students have their educational tour on November 5, 2015. Eljohn Marc is one of the pupil who joined the educational tour. It was filled with fun and joy, and good bonding with his classmates, teachers and his loving mother.

They first watched "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" on stage at Greenbelt 1 Makati. The show started at 10:30 am. It featured the story of the girl who was trapped by her step-mother -- the Evil Queen. It has moral lesson, friendship, kindness and the triumph of good over wicked.

Eljohn was surprised when the character come out on stage and the dwarfs came out from the back of their seats. He was so happy and enjoyed watching. The play ended at 12:30 in the afternoon. All the cast took picture with the kids and signed autographs.

The second was at The City of Dreams Manila. The Dream Play center is a first of its kind. The children can play and participate in a wide range of creative activities. And fun filled experience with the character of DreamsWorks Animation’s world famous films like Shrek.

Eljohn and my wife watched 4D movies "Kung Fu Panda", "How to train the dragon", "Madagascar". We were getting a little bit wet. We didn’t expect that there's water that will come out. Eljohn also danced and played around. DreamPlay is not just for kids, but for the entire family. They said in one TV commercial “Minsan lang maging bata, sabayan mo na”. It was also a great bonding moment of mother and son.

OFW Disappointed for the New House Built by Filinvestland

Since I am out of the Country, my wife, son and my father in law visited our new house at Ashton Fields Calamba City Laguna dated October 16, 2015 second time.

The whole family was excited to see our new house, but their excitement was gone before their eyes when our agreement and expectation was not met from what my family saw it on actual turn over.

Our concerns is as follows:

  • The color of the house is not what  what we had selected, (Color Scheme No.1)
  • The door is not properly installed that created a gap from the flooring that made it look awkward and not so presentable.
  • The hinges they have used for all the doors are not as good quality as it look, especially the one on our toilet door.

Don Juan of Tabang Pinoy, Invested in First Metro Exchange Traded Fund (FMETF)

One day, Mr. Renz Leano, the president and founder of OFSI, encourage OFSI members to invest in FMETF (First Metro exchange traded fund) since this is the only and the first ETF in the Philippines since 2013 until today. But even so, at the end of the day the decision will depend on us because we have different goals in life as well as our risk appetite.

FMETF was approved on October 9, 2013 by the board of directors of the PSE. The fund sponsor is Mr. Roberto Juanchito Dispo, the President of First Metro Investment Corporation and the investment banking arm of the Metro bank Group.

FMETF was recognized as Asia’s Best Emerging Market ETF. The fund manager of FMETF was awarded as the best ETF Manager, for being the most prominent emerging market ETF in terms of Assets under management, performance, trading volume and tracking error for last year.

ETFs, suits any type of investor. This type of investment is diversified, transparent and tradable. This is similar to Mutual Fund except that in ETF -- investor can trade. It is a share of stocks that represents a group of portfolio companies.  This is another type of investment fund that pools the assets of its investor and handle by a professional fund manager to invest.

July 27, 2015. I invested without any hesitation because I trusted the company. Founded on the researched, the Performance of the FMETF has grown-up greatly since 2013 until today. I believe the cost will go higher in a perfect time.

So, this is good for us newbie investor. I believed this would give us a higher return soon.
